It drove some nice traffic to the site.

A friend and I designed some really beautiful iPhone and iPad docks made out of Baltic birch wood. We’re going to start selling them next week. They will make great Christmas gifts. Oh, and they’re handmade. The idea is for the dock to look great on your desk, even when your device isn’t in it. I’ll post the website soon.
Within the last few weeks (25 days to be exact) I started a little project that is best named, 8:36pm. It’s quite simple, at 8:36pm every night I get a notification reminding me to take a moment to take a picture of what I’m currently doing right then. I’ve been uploading them to my flickr account into a photo set. You may have also noticed I’ve been tweeting them daily for fun as well.
Unfortunately, I can’t take the credit for coming up with this. Buster Benson, a developer/entrepreneur is the one who did. He started doing it and a few people have followed. As the pictures start to slowly accumulate, I’ve noticed some funny things. In the beginning you’ll notice I have several pictures where I’m just watching TV after a long day. As the first several days went by, I began to feel a personal pressure to make sure I’m doing something interesting or constructive after 8:00pm. Posting these to twitter have helped enhance that pressure. (I still occasionally am just being lame and relaxing at 8:36pm)
This is something I decided to do on a whim for a month trial. That first month test is 6 days from completion, but I’ve already decided this is something I plan on continuing for a very long time – if not forever. I can’t wait to see what else I can learn from this. If nothing else, its just fun to look back at what I was doing every day at the same 1 minute window.
If you are at all inspired to try this, I recommend using your smartphone to take the picture. All of my photos have been geo-tagged and can be seen on a map on flickr, showing where I was when I took each. It’s going to add another fun element as days pass and more pictures are added. My 8:36pm flickr set can be found here.
